Asrock motherboard and ivy bridge Cpu

if i drop a ivy bridge CPU into a
ASRock
P67 Extreme4 Gen3 motherboard

how would i do a bios flash. Will anything be bad if i

It probably won't post without the bios flash. I suggest a newer z77 board, or you can buy the low end 1155 celeron for $40 at newegg and flash it first.

There is something i still dont know about i know that you you have to flash a bios on a motherboard but i don't get how would be the real reason i am asking this. This is my first build ever and i have no clue how to update it

With a Sandy Bridge CPU (and a USB thumb drive). That's how you do it, and the ONLY way.

assuming the bios isnt updated as of yet, you NEED a sandy bridge cpu in order to do so. the motherboard cannot read ivy bridge yet

z77 will post with an ivy bridge cpu without flashing the bios. Good luck.
