Build Advice 2000$ with monitor Gaming PC

Hey I am at the point where I have to buy a new computer. Playing WoW on the lowest settings with zero addons is starting to get to me in 25 heroic raids. Also i really want to be able to play new games, which I have not been able to for a while.

Approximate Purchase Date: The closer the better. Have been saving and every paycheck adds more to my savings and just confuses me a little more.


Budget Range: Would like to get to close as 2k as possible including the monitor. After rebates.


System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, surfing the internet, movies.


Parts Not Required: keyboard, mouse, speakers, OS. Already have this stuff in mind.


Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.com, amazon, microcenter. I live in California so that affects which sites give me tax ect.


Country of Origin: United States.

Parts Preferences: Prefer Intel for cpu. Case im not to firm about one i looked at seemed simple and convienent. Not going to be firm here because I want other options/opinions. Monitor I especially need help with have not owned one in a while.


Overclocking: Yes

SLI or Crossfire: Not sure.


Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080 is most likely.

Additional Comments: I have not purchased a computer in quite a while so im fairly behind on information. Have been doing what i can to catch up but still feel in the weeds.

I also need a monitor i would prefer a 24 inch or bigger that would really go well with this set up or a better set up you can think of. I am not interested in the eyefinity setup of 3 monitors prefer just the 1 really nice one. And I might set up my current on as a second moniter so i can surf while playing games.

It may bust your budget, but consider a 30" 2560 x 1600 monitor. It is one of the few future proof computer purchases you can make today. A new one will cost you $1000.
Or, get a refurbished Samsung 305T for $900, perhaps less. Not only do they have twice the pixels of a 1080P monitor, but the panels have a wider viewing angle. You will still be looking at the monitor after several generations of pc's.

Your GTX580 will run it well.

To balance the cost, realize that a GTX580 requires only needs 600w with 42a on the 12v rails plus one 6-pin and one 8-pin PCI-E power lead.
If you were to ever upgrade, a GTX590 needs 700w with 50a on the 12v rails plus two 8-pin PCI-E power leads or 4 6-pin power leads.
A more modest psu will cost half as much.


But, the parts really look good as it is.

Ya those are out of my budget. Reason i had the higher PSU was because i was thinking that i can upgrade the comp later by adding a second 580 when i have the desire.

I would say 400-500 is max i can spend not factoring in reducing the PSU. Im glad that other then that so far its looking good tho. Thank you.

I think you might be looking at 900w PSU if you plan on getting a second GTTX580.
My plan would be to sell the GTX580 and replace it with a GTX590. Or, more likely, 28nm kepler will be available after the end of the year, and that would be a better graphics card.

I apreciate the suggestion but for some reason i dont really like the eyefinity 3 moniter setup. Nothing wrong with it just not my preference. I am going to take up your suggestion on that ram though very nice deal.





Will switching to the 590 have a nice noticeable upgrade over the 580? Only thing stopping me is how big of a price step up it is.

if you are seriously going with 1 monitor the max you will need is 2 560 ti's......

The GTX590 is a definite upgrade in graphics power.
But... If you will be using only one 1920 x 1200 monitor or a 1080P(1920x1080), then the increase will not be as noticeable.
You will be getting diminishing returns for your dollar. Most of the improvement will be in the form of lower minimum frame rates.

Remember that most lcd monitors refresh at 60hz. Some may do 120hz, but that is a stretch for even the best graphics configurations.
Lastly, many games are self capped at 60fps.

Alright so I have kind of made up my mind a little more what I want. Since i seemed to be fuzzy. I have the space to run 2 23 or 24 inch monitors. So that is the setup i would like to run, no way i can fit a 3rd one and that 3rd monitor seems just excess to me personally.

Things im confused about are Graphics and monitors. Was now looking at 2 570s dont know if thats overkill or if something else would work better for just 2 monitors. Or if i should just buy 1 good card and just wait to upgrade to another card when I need to or if 1 good card by itself can run the 2 monitors. Power supply is dependant on which cards i get but I know I would like one that is modular.

Suggestions on monitors would also be apreciated would like 2x 23 or 24inchers like I said at the begining.
My goal is still 2k can go over a little but do not break 2100.

Most monitors today will be 1080P(1920 x 1080). The diagonal size is irrelevant.

Two monitors is very useful, and is a cheap way to increase your display real estate.

When gaming, the game will run on the primary monitor, and the other can still hold static stuff like e-mail and monitors.

I have two 2560 x 1600 monitors on a single GTX580 and it runs just fine.

I do not see sli as necessary unless you are into triple monitor gaming.
