The case and PSU are overkill but I want them to be future proof for future upgrades. Also I want to use the default AMD fan with limited overclocking. The RAM is chosen for best overclocking stability and future black edition processors. This is primarily a media PC for video, audio and photo editing with some gaming (eg. low detail Crysis 2). Are there anything wrong with this system? What about all the peripherals? Any suggestions for better parts? System total cost $2,700

The Samsung 500gb will work fine. I like the 1TB one though but I don't think you really need 4 haha.

I would also get this case instead:
HAF 932 $140 lots of expansion room

Take a look at this SSD:
OCZ Agility 3 AGT3-25SAT3-240G 2.5" $420

I still don't think you need over 1000W for this.
Corsair CMPSU-750AX $174 after shipping

I would generally count each DVD drive and HDD as 25W. 4xHDD 1xDVD drive = 125W. AMD is really power efficient and generally aren't power hungry systems. I think 750W is...

1200W is not justifiable if you're not at least doing crossfire 6990/580. I think you should hang around 500-600W instead. The DVD burner can read/write DVD/CD by the way. Why are you buying two lol. I recommend 4 Samsung Spinpoint F3 instead. Lately WD is overrated and you'll get more out of your money from Samsung HDD. You don't need 240GB SSD but what do you plan to use it for? I would expect at least 20gb or so to be dedicated for the OS. 64GB is more than enough for a boot drive. If you plan to store your games.. the Samsung HDD is the faster drive compare to other 7200rpm. I wouldn't spend $2700 on a llano... they are meant to be for the BUDGET oriented.

forgot to mention SSD is used for dual booting Ubuntu and Windows 7, storing all application/programs and games. The mobo and APU doesn't cost too much, its with everything else (monitors, SSD, mouse and keyboard etc) that they cost $2,700. The HDD's have the newest technology if you look into it.

You really need to research upon these things. 2 TB Caviar Black has four 500 GB platters [fast!]. The 1 TB has 3 platters at 333 GB each. This mean it's at a disadvantage against the Spinpoint F3 which has 500gb per platter. You WILL get better performance with the samsung spinpoint F3.

Can I get the 500 GB HDD's? Now that you told me that, I do think the most recent 500 GB HDD's use a single 500 GB platter and they are one of the fastest.

As for memory, instead of going for 2133mhz, the sweet spot is 1866mhz
8GB (2x4GB) G.Skill $80 before $15 promo ending 8/8

The 4x4GB is around $170.
