All .exe files being denied

So, I'm not able to open any .exe files.
I suspect I have a virus hiding somewhere in the registry.

Here's the error message I'm getting when clicking on any .exe file:

This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel.

So, I guess I'm going to have to manually repair the registry, how do I do that?

Note: Yeah, I used search.

this is normally viral activity.

follow run you antivirus program in safe mode as well as Malwarebytes.

I've already run malware bytes previous to this post.
Found around 60 viruses but I suppose there has to be one or two still perhaps in the registry that's causing the problem.
