One of my drives just died and I'm looking at buying a Seagate 3TB 3.5 inch 7200RPM 64MB Cache SATA3 Hard Drive (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-7200RPM-Cache-SATA3-Drive/dp/B006KCX0UE/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1344083429&sr=8-5%29). Will my motherboard support this drive?

I've read elsewhere that some motherboards require BIOS upgrades, but the last update for my board is 2009 so I'm not sure if it's possible for me to install this drive.

efi loader supporting 3TB HDD will require at least 2MB bios but this model has only 1MB. It can support OS installed drive up to 2.2TB. If you just want to use 3 TB as storage, there could be no such a problem.

Thanks BerylLee. I'm using a 1TB drive as my boot drive so I intend to use this as a storage drive. I did want to partition it and add a second OS (just in case i get issue with main OS).

If I partition the drive can I still use it as a boot drive?

-To clarify-
If I partition the 3TB drive into 1TB and 2TB partititions, would i be able to install a second OS to one of the partitions?
