Recently bought 16gb gskill 2133(oc) and installed on asus crosshair formula V changed the speed to 2133 under tweak menu in bios... SIW is still showing memory at 800mhz... ne ideas ?

plz forgive me if this has been discussed :sol:

More about speed
  1. DDR stands for double data rate, so that speed is multiplied.

Are you sure you have all of the memory settings enabled?
  2. Run CPU-Z and see what it says.
  3. 16gb ddr3 2133(oc)... where else would i check other than my bios ? windows finds the 16gb but i do not think im running at full capacity
    actually dlin cpuz now

For example, dual channel 1600 DDR3 will read as 800 since it is dual channel. OP, your RAM should read as 1066, since it is also dual channel.
  5. ya dual channel... but that still wudnt explain 800 :(
  6. cpuz is saying my dram frequency is fluctuating betwen: 1000 - 1175 mhz
    FSB DRAM: 3:16
    CAS# Latency : 9.0 clocks
    RAS# to CAS# Dealy 11clocks
    RAS# Precharge 11clocks
    Cycle Time 28clocks
    Bank Cycle Time 45clocks

    NB freq between 2200 - 2500

Dual Channel has nothing to do with it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR_SDRAM

It's literally as it says: Double Data Rate. In this case, the Bus speed is 800Mhz, so the rated speed is 1600.

OP, as far as why it's not showing 1066Mhz (like it should) I don't know.

That part sounds just about right, then (although I don't know why it would be fluctuating. It should just be a stable 1066).
  9. yea thats what i thought .. i9mma check the settings some mroe and do sum tweaking thanks for ur help ill post what i find

Ugh, it's late, lost my mind for a minute. :)
    Thanks for the correction.
  11. cpuz reading : changed nb freq to 2200mhz itrs fluctuating slightly
my dram is now almost solid 800 then every once n awhile +/- 30 :(
    siw reading: 800mhz ddr3 1600

all bios readings are saying 2133 wtf bro
  12. I don't know man. :(
  13. nothing like buying ram rated @ 2133 and getting half my moneys worth... wtf
its probbly sumthing im overlooking as usuall... but i feel ive searched thoroughly :pfff:
i also tried dling a few updates for my mobo...
would a bios update make a diff ?

It might, I suppose. It's up to you to decide whether or not the risk of updating the BIOS is worth it or not, though (since if something goes wrong, it'll leave you with a bricked board).
  15. uugghh .. what else can i try ? imma post in the mobo section ive read some stuff that makes me believe this is a reoccurring issue

  16. Something on ASUS ROG boards on the AMD side lets you use Intel XMP.
