Removing 2nd dvi port from hd 6850

i know this is probably a bad idea but i just want to take the 2nd dvi port from my gpu ... the reaon mostly is to free up my other pci slot that the thing is blocking ... have this been done before? ... if so can i have some links or directions on how to do this ... my rotary tool and soldering iron are raring to go ... i just want to make sure that my gpu will still work after this surgery

The simple fact you're unsure about it all suggests you shouldn't do it.

Just an update ... I cut off the 2nd dvi port and the card is working witb no hitches so far ...
