Mounting Motherboard Without Tower

Last response: in Motherboards

I recently moved across country and rather than trying to pack my tower into a box I stripped the necessary parts and brought those only. How would I go about placing the motherboard in a safe way to run the PC with no shell?

For example, can the motherboard lay on plastic or cardboard without shorting out? Should I get small foam or rubber circles and place them under the screw holes so it is still raised and lay it on any flat surface? I know it is possible, I just don't know how chipsets react to certain materials.

Thanks in advance.

Nevermind, I found a cheap tower on craigslist so I don't really need an answer at this point.

Get some anti static material and you're good to go. I've had systems run for short amounts of time (less than 2 hours) with the motherboard laying on a wooden chair with no problems
