Mother board battery

i have an old mother board but it seams to not work just thinking here but will the battery on board be a problem and how long do the batteries last ??????

A battery lasts several years and replacing it only costs a few dollars. A defective battery won't prevent the motherboard from working; it just won't retain the configuration if you disconnect or power off the PSU.
