Is 1200 watts enough for my setup

I am going to be as detailed as possible. In a couple of months I will have saved enough money for my dream build workstation and was wondering will a 1,200 Watt PSU from Silverstone be enough?
I will have:
the latest Intel Extreme Edition CPU once the new ones come out
Intel X79 Motherboard
2 ATI HD6990 GPU's (probably will only buy 1 and the other later)
Raid Card as I don't like integrated RAID
4 Seagate 1TB HD's on RAID 10
2 Intel 320 SSD's for primary hard drive on RAID 1 or 0 (still weighing if I actually want SSD's)
X-Fi Titianium sound card
Blu-ray drive

Is that the PSU?
Well, for dual HD6990 you need 4x8pin power connector, so I would say yes you can run whole components above with that PSU.

But I don't like the pcie cables configuration, I suggest this one:

I like that corsair one though. Any difference between the two? Or are they the same performance. My main concern was 4 x 8 Pin PCI-E and at least 12 SATA connectors. As I was going to have at most 8 hard drives and 2 SSD's and a Blu-Ray drive.

Dude you don't want to drop that kind of cash on Sandy Bridge-E, we already saw the disapointing benchmarks and it's likely to be waaay overpriced. It's not even 30% faster than the 990X in workstation apps and won't be any better at gaming than a 2600K. Also it has no support for PCI-E 3.0, which Z68 already does.

Also will be as much or more than 990X was launched. $1000+. Not to mention the boards will be probably $300+ and add in quad channel ram...

Wait for Ivy Bridge.

Wait for Ivy Bridge.

I am waiting don't worry bro. It will take a couple months to save up the cash anyway... Still need to find a good RAID card that can handle 10 hard drives (2 SSD's and 8 mechanical) have built in RAM, and be fast. Be supported on the Intel X79 board without using a workstation platform using a PCI-E x8 slot, that supports SATA III. If anyone has ideas for a good raid card that does just all that let me know please. I had my eyes on the Intel 16 port RAID card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... but I don't know if it can work on my setup. I like the BBU option so I can do write-back cache.

Ivy Bridge is not compatible with X79. Forget X79, it'll be just like X58. Overpriced and outdone a few weeks later by Ivy Bridge, and won't even be around as long as X58 was.

Remember how stupid all those X58 jumpers felt when Sandy Bridge came out?

Well I'll be building a whole new Windows/Linux box from scratch. I am waiting for ivy bridge and so is the rest of the company I work I convinced the head guys to hold off upgrading until Ivy bridge.

I bought my X58 in 2008 and it still owns. No, I don't feel stupid.

That's a pretty sweet build! In the future, if you're looking for a PSU calculation, I would recommend the following website:

http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

It'll let you enter in the specs of your build and it has significantly more options than the Newegg calculator mentioned above (no disrespect!) such as a liquid cooling option, SSD options, and even an option to specify what frequency you'll be running your CPU at if you overclock! Overall it will just give you a much more accurate reading.

Have you given any thought to what kind of case are you going to get and how you're going to cool it?

Between those two GPU's, a sound card, and a RAID card you're going to be taking up a lot of space and throwing off even more heat! Not to mention the fact that with 7 drives (if I counted correctly), depending on which case you get, you're probably going to be using almost all your drive bays, which will also get toasty and cut down on overall air flow.

Would you consider liquid cooling?

Thanks so much I overestimated every part down to the OC. I used a highend OC setting on the CPU doubt it will ever get this high using a 3930 cpu to 4600MHz at 1.5volts. Doubt it will ever get that high in voltage. But I figure might as well get headroom, factored in lighting, USB, RAID card, 2 6990's, 2 SSD's and 8 HD's. Just in case I decide to upgrade. And come out a hair shy of 1,200 Watts. So I may get a bigger PSU... Still haven't built it, shooting for a build this summer. If all goes well. Thanks for that little toy! I'll look around for a PSU similar to the silverstone I picked but with more power... Any suggestions?
