hi guys! im a first time builder on quite a tight budget and i recently found this great deal on the Cooler Master USP 100 case which also comes with a CM eXtreme poer plus 55ow PSU. this seemed like an excellent deal but the reviews i have been reading about this family of psus say that the really suck hard and dont give their rated outputs (watts) and if you put them under load for extended periods of time they will basically fry. Being a first time builder im trying to be very careful and cautious about my components and i really want my first build attempt to go smoothly. Ati says that you need a 500w psu with 32A on the 12v rails and this psu has that so technically this shouldnt be a problem but the reviews of the psu arent good so what are you guys thoughts ? should i go ahead and buy it will it be reliable and safe? or is this psu notorious for its bad performance? thanks guy i really want your take on this because im getting my system very soon and this seems like such a good bargain help!

Yes extreme power plus sucks hard. Don't trust low-end Cooler Master PSUs. Good brands are Seasonic, Corsair and Antec. It's better to pay more than pay twice,

http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Cooler-Master-eX... < review. It should be ok but i would chose the lower powered 6850 to be more on the safe side. Its slightly slower than a 5850 overall, but pretty much on par in dx11 titles.

Yeah, well the 5xxx series is pretty much obsolete anyway.
But no, definitely don't buy the PSU. It has crap efficiency (73.2%-77.5%), it can't deliver its labeled wattage and the build quality isn't very good either. Like I said: It's better to pay more than pay twice. I would recommend you either

thanks to all who contributed your help is much appreciated!! i have heard from alot of people that antec is a really good company for psus and i found this psu (im not sure about the model name but i think its from the Basiq series) antec 550w modular psu and for a realy reasonable price and so i think ill be getting that! anyway..why do you say that the 5xxx series is obsolete ?? whats wrong with it ? where i live the 5850 sapphire xtreme edition is cheaper than the 6850 and it seems to outperform it please reply because me and my mate had a little argument the other day (5850 v 6850) and now i really don't know what to get!! any help is much appreciated

if u stick with the 550w coolermaster psu, buy the hd 6850, if u buy the 550w antec psu, go get the hd 5850, and yes, hd 5850 will outperform the hd 6850.
