I have a Asus P8Z77-V LX with a core i5 2500k processor and 6GB of triple channel DDR 3 at 1600mhz from my old PC. Windows 64 bit Ultimate OS

1. Wont' let me upate my BIOS.

I downloaded the latest BIOS for my motherboard and even renamed it "P8Z77VLX.CAP" like suggested to me. It gives me the "Security Verification Failed" error.

2. The RAM is at 1333mhz, even though it's rated at 1600mhz. If I change it on the BIOS to 1600, my PC won't even POST. I have to reset the CMOS in order to get it to POST. I"m thinking maybe it's the RAM... but the model is one of the ones listed on the motherboard manual

3. Also, I noticed that there's no more triple channel on my board. Is it just my board or did they get rid of triple channel altogether?

4. How much RAM should I get and what frequency? What brand?

2. XMP

3.that was only for the first gen i7's, it went down to dual channel after, now it's split to dual and quad channel ram

4.i would reccomend 8GB of 1333MHz corsair vengeance ram

Why only 1333mhz ram? and why only 8gb of it? Is there speed boost to picking this frequency and this much ram?

anything past 1333 will not get a boost in performance (amd's APU being the exeption)... and 8GB is plenty for almost anything at the moment, and since your going for a quality mobo, im guessing your going to be gaming or doing professional work with your pc... which may benefit from the extra ram

Should I get another 8GB in order to get quad channel? I'm looking at the motherboard manual and I do not see anyting about quad channel being mentioned here

It won't be Quad Channel, still just Dual Channel. Quad Channel is only available on LGA 2011 boards.

All 6 and 7 series boards except for X79, are Dual Channel.

Thanks, I'll just stick with these then. Not bad for less than 50 bucks.
