I am in the process of building a new computer with 16gb of g skill ripjaws ram. I am still using the stock CPU cooler that came with my phenom x4. I have been having problems where windows says only 12 of 16gb is usable and when i use memtest 86 it only detects 12gb of ram( i then tested each stick individually and they all work). I touched the ram and it felt quite warm/hot. I figured this was due to the fact that the cooler pushes air down and must of been heating the ram. Sooooo i shut down my computer and after an hour or so started it up on memtest and it finally showed 16gb of ram. I am just wondering if any of you have had this problem with the stock cooler overheating ram, I think i definitely need to upgrade this noisy cpu cooler! :fou:

What is the name of your motherboard maybe your motherboard doesn't support upto more then 12GB ram?
