Zacate driver (vga/dvi) question

Hello,
using a new zacate build with an asrock mobo (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157228&cm_re=e-350-_-13-157-228-_-Product)
hooked up to the monitor through the DVI port. The monitor is a standard 1080 monitor. Windows 7 refuses to allow any resolution higher then 1280x1024, presumably because it says its connected to a VGA device, even though the actual cable and connection is DVI. I can see and understand that the logic board shares that data lane regardless whether its plugged into the vga or dvi but is their a way to force windows to use the dvi driver or in some other manner get the full resolution from my monitor?

Thanks!
