Additional Comments: Have been wading through this fantastic sight when I have had free time this week, and have tried to put together a pretty good list. I need a monitor and OS which really pumped this price much higher than I had planned for sure. Since I plan on editing video while downloading media and editing photos while listening to music or watching media at the same time, I am looking to overclock the cpu and have more ram than gamers need I think, and more power supply than I think I need but am assuming I will need cooling which I have not accounted for.

I understand that I do NOT know what I am doing or talking about! If this is too much overkill, I am glad to NOT be overdoing it...Anyway, thanks for taking a look at my proposed build, any and all constructive suggestions WELCOME.

$862.00 TOTAL

Solution
The intel i5 processors easily outclass the phenom in rendering tasks
.

Heres what I would build at that price
i5 2400
H67 or Z68 mb
2 x4 gig of RAM
The case Antec looks like a great deal

If you do decide to stick with AMD then make sure you motherboard is AM3+ capable so it can run the soon to be released bulldozer processors . Ideally with a 970 or 990 series chipset

I was originally looking at i5 2500k, but even the i5 2400 plus mobo would add roughly $225 to my total. Do you think an overclocked AMD X4 would be significantly worse for rendering (worth the added expense?)
