Does my motherboard accept pci express 2.1

I am looking for a new video cad. thing is i built my PC with a friend that is amazingly good at computers but im not.
my mother board is a GIGABYTE MA790XT-UD4P for ATI and i want to upgrade my video card but i dont know which one is good for my motherboard.
ive been saving up money so i accept all opinions thx and sorry for the ignorance :l

It will work fine with a PCI-E 2.1 card, that board has PCI-E 2.0 slots which work just fine with 2.1, the only issues i know of are with 2.1 cards going into boards that are only 1.0.
