First time build: $1200 gaming

Hey all, it's my first time ever doing a build. I've done a little research and this is what I've come up with. I've been wanting to build a sweet gaming machine since I was in middle school, I just graduated college, got a job, and can finally afford to do so. I've been out of computer gaming for a while but i want to be able to run crysis I/II, cod mw3, bf 3, skyrim, starcraft, total war etc on awesome/possibly maxed out settings.

I'll also be doing a ton of multitasking/video streaming as well. I'll also be doing a little photoshop, maybe some music editing and some light video editing, but we can focus on the gaming.


Approximate Purchase Date: next week

Budget Range: 1000-1200

System Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming, multitasking internet, streaming video,very light photoshop, very light video editing

750w Corsair PSU
1.5tb WD Black Caviar HDD
matching 25' monitors
when they were on sale

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe down the road

Kingston HyperX 2 x 4GB DDR3 1600
Crucial M4 64gb
Cooler Master HAF 932 Full

total = $1000

I think where I'm really unsure is the gpu, I'm not sure if it will be good enough or overkill. I also considered the 6850, 6870 and gtx 560ti.

I also want a sweet keyboard and mouse (not really geared toward gaming) if anyone has suggestions.

I'm not going to comment on the video card... I'm an Nvidia kinda guy.
Whatever graphics card you get is your preference, but one suggestion I would like to throw out is that you look into upgrading that 64 Gb SSD to a 128 Gb.

Crucial M4's are GREAT. Best model and brand, but there is a considerable performance boost between the 64 Gb model and the 128 Gb model, Check the like below for the official Tom's benchmarks...

I wouldn't think that the 256 Gb and 512 Gb would be worth it... TOO MUCH $$$$$$$$

I have a Logitech G110 keyboard and MX518 mouse and love them both and they're not crazy expensive. If you've got some budget room left, maybe even drop the 6950 in favor of two 6850s or 6870s. Crossfired 6850s perform better than an HD 6970 and Crossfired 6870s would be even better.

You have 1.65v RAM in that build, and you want 1.5v or less.
