i was looking at my settings for my computer....
I have an i7 920 2.66 CPU
1 GEFORCE 9800 GT
P6T Deluxe motherboard
3 Gigs of RAM...
I noticed, even with small tasks. ie. Opening Firefox, running StarCraft, or Playing crysis, my computers CPU usage is at 100%.....

So I ran a hardware diagnostics (I work at a computer store)
And on my Day 1 Diagnostics...
It read
Processor 0
Working Correctly
Processor 1
Working correctly
Processor 2
Working Correctly
Proc. 3
Working
Proc 4
Working
Proc 5
working
Proc 6
Working
Proc 7
Working....

I ran a diagnostics today...

Processor 0
Working....

That's it...
Why is this...
Then I ran a benchmark. Now my i7 is running 7thousand points lower than it was originally...
What is going on?

Turn of the EPU on your board and see what happens. It could be that IT isn't working right. And also Crysis isn't a small task. :)

I have heard several people mention having problems but there have been several more saying they are great. Intel has already said their will be predaccessors to the i7 line (925 or 930, 950, and 975) and they will discontinue the current line. So look for that in the near future. This is one reason why I am usually not an early adopter until I hear what's the deal with the product.

Start with using task manager or another utility to see what is using 100 percent of the cpu. Also I dont know diagnostics you ran but start with cpuz and temp monitors. Make sure all the speeds/volts/temps are normal.

Then you can run stabilty checks such as prime95/orthos/memtest...etc.

Getting 100 percent cpu load for no good reason is usually a software problem(windows/malware/hung app).

Maybe you're running some apps. in the background without knowing. You know, FAH or something like that. Go to Task Maager > processes > sort by CPU load and see which one is on top.

the one on top is a program called aacenter.exe...
I called ASUS they said I can just remove it, but i've done detailed searches through my computer.... I cannot uninstall it

Sort by CPU usage. Make sure that the highest usage is on top. Look at the CPU usage column.

Post a similar screenshot here. There may be some malware or like I said, FAH. Also, make sure you select "Show processes from all users."

Oh, and this might help: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/721229.html

There's something wrong. See in my shot? The system idle process is at top. Is shows you how much % of CPU is free. I can't find that on yours. It has to be on top. I thought you said it was 50% at idle?

Nope, no problems with 50% idle....
When i'm not doing anything my CPU is at like 1-6% on average.. But when I open ANY PROGRAM.. it shoots to 100% and I have to wait for small or large programs to open.
be it firefox, Starcraft, or Crysis/.

Why do you run such memory configurations? 2+2+1 , 2+1 etc.? Anyway, flash a newer BIOS and try.

Could this have something to do with SW Single Processor Mode?

In simple terms, it means you use 2 or 4 sticks of RAM. i7 works better with three. You could try these:
3 x 1
3 x 2 - this would suit you best as you already have 2 sticks. Make sure they match
6 x 1
6 x 2

Also check the BIOS. I dunno about i7, but my mobo has the SW Single Processor Mode which uses just one core. Make sure all settings are right. If the problem is still not solve, flash a newer BIOS.

IS your OS 64 bit? otherwise it won't show all 4GB.

FLASH your BIOS. I have an ASUS P6T and I've flashed it 2 times in a week because of updates. The x58 chipset is new and has... a few issues.
