However, 1360x768 is a widescreen resolution which gives you more space on the side, which I most prefer.

As already mentioned 1280x1024 is the higher pixel count resolution so would require the most processing power to display but the real main difference between the 2 is the aspect ratio with 1280x1024 being a 5:4 ratio and 1360x768 being 16:9 widescreen ratio so which is preferable will more be dependent on which type of display you have !

As many have said, 1024 is the 'larger' screen resolution, but 768 is the preferable one.

Through simple multiplication, a 1280 x 1024 resolution has more pixels than 1360 x 768 resolution. Yes, math does come in handy...

For gaming and videos, widescreen (16:9) can be preferable, for everything else I think 5:4 is WAY better. Websites are mostly vertical and so are written documents so I think 1280 x 1024 is better from a productivity standpoint.
