VSync

I noticed some screen tearing in Crysis but rarely.
Would VSync avoid this?
The thing is if I turn VSync the fps drop too much and I'd have to turn the details down.

Then again could my monitor be the reason for the screen tearing?
It is a 24 inch monitor with a refresh rate of 60 hertz. I don't know whether the refresh rate is too little but it's the highest the monitor can be set to.

I would experiment with your settings some and try to find one that doesn't tear without the use of vsync. Vsync may cause more tearing than you already have if you card can't maintain fps around your refresh rate at all times (too much higher or lower and you get more tearing than you solve with vsync).

Sorry I don't understand too much about this but are you saying that if my refresh rate is a lot higher or lower than the fps I am getting it causes screen tearing?

If you are playing Crysis in DX9 (XP system), you should look into enabling triple buffering. This will prevent as much of a FPS drop.
