This is my first PC build, I don't plan to spend more than £500 and so far have got my eyes on these components. If someone in the know could check that a system made up of these parts will work, or better yet, know of parts that would be a better choice that would be great.

The purpose of the system is gaming. All I want to do is play newer games (Starcraft 2, Civ 5), though not necessarily on highest graphics. I just want it to run smoothly.

So without further ado:

CPU: Intel CPU i3 2100 Sandy Bridge Dual Core

Motherboard: Asus P8P67 LE Rev3 Intel P67 Express Socket 1155

GPU:MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 OC Graphics Card - 1GB

PSU and Case: Coolermaster Elite 335 Mid Tower Case, Black, with Coolermaster 460w PSU

HDD: Western Digital WD5000AAKX Caviar Blue SATA 6Gbps 7200rpm 16MB Cache

ODD: 24x Black SATA DVDRW Sony AD-7280S-0B OEM Bare Drive

Now I realise these are all from the same website. I do plan to look around to find the best prices for each component, I was merely using scan.co.uk to do my searching around.

Thanks for any help given!

More about : build checking compatible

The only compatibility concern is that the PSU (which is not very good - I wouldn't buy it) only has one PCIe connector; the GPU needs two. You could use peripheral to PCIe adapters, but you would only have one peripheral connector left after that for anything else. So I would suggest trying to get a better PSU into the budget.
