Hey guys, I am looking at upgrading my GPU here soon. I live in the U.S. and looking at newegg, I have narrowed the two cards I am considering on getting.

6870: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150521

or

6950: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150530

My specs are:

Phenom II x4 B50 O.C. to 3.6Ghz
ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO
G.SKILL Ripjaws 4G DDR3 1600
GeForce 9800 GT
OCZ ZX Series 850W Fully-Modular 80PLUS Gold

Basically, I am wondering if its worth spending an extra $100 to get the 6950 (possibly unlockable to 6970) over the 6870 when I will only be playing at a 1680 x 1050 resolution on a 22" monitor for a very long time. I will want to xfire in the future so I want to take that into recomendation. Eyefinity, maybe: only time I would opt for it would be if I had 3 screens to get together at once. I don't think I would enjoy only 2 screens cause i would basically still be looking at only one screen with extra stuff on the other. 3 screens would allow me to look at the middle screen and make the experience bigger. Therefore eyefinity is unlikely in the lifetime of the card itself.

Any thoughts, experiences, comments? Thanks!

Edit: I play just about everything. I am looking VERY forward to BF3, MW, ME3, Skyrim, ect. Basically want to be able to max out these games and others in the future at playable framerates, with or without xfire that is.

That 6870 is a really good deal. It would be plenty for your resolution, allowing you to crossfire it in the not-too-distant future (just don't wait too long- if 6870s start disappearing you'll lose the option).

The 6950 is worth it, but that doesn't make it the right choice for everyone. I'd say go for the 6870.

Anyone else? I know a 6950 was designed for HD gaming, so in my resolution it should last me quite a long time. Was the 6870 built similarly? Guess my question is if its worth the extra hundred bucks to make the 6950 last me longer than the 6870.

My 9800GT has lasted me this long and its about 2-3 years old. Its to the point that you cant find another 9800gt out anymore, so I cant really xfire that. Think the same will happen with a 6950/6870?
