Hi
The problem: the SATA/IDE adapter should enable my bios to see the disk. The bios doesnt see the disk. But it runs a search which takes longer with the SATA disk connected;

I've got a MS 6580 motherboard with uptodate bios from MSI's website;

And a good 80GB samsung SATA HD080HJ;
And a good 120GB 4 yr old IDE barracuda on master;
And a "bidirectional SATA / IDE adapter (plugged it into IDE); it has a floppy cable for power & 2 typical cables for the sata disk

Now: I don't have the producer/manual/ because there was none in/on the wee box I bought it in;

What to do?

Hi

Some motherboard have separate controllers for SATA and RAID. Make sure this is not the problem you are having, if so make the corrections. Also, if you have your bios setting set for RAID your SATA HDD(s) will not show in the Main menu, however, they will show if have RAID disabled in the BIOS.
