New cpu for Flight Sim X

I am wanting to build a new pc for flight simming. My current setup is aging and i have upgraditis. Here is my current setup:

Q6700 normal clock
GTX 465
8GB DDR2
750GB HD
650PSU

The only thing i want to buy is new ram, new mobo, and obviously a new processor. I will use the PSU, gfx card, hard drive, and case from my old setup. I want to keep this under $300-$350 if possible. I have been looking at this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103934&Tpk=amd%20980 processor as a upgrade but i dont know whats the best. Thanks for the help!

More about flight
  1. Don't go with AMD. Intel's CPUs are much faster and FSX needs a LOT of CPU power.

CPU (the most popular these days) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072 - FSX will run GREAT with that.

Mobo (also a very popular choice) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157271&Tpk=z68%20extreme3%20gen%203

    RAM (also quite popular) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231426

    Total cost: $381.97
  2. I could not run FSX without freezing on my old AMD Anthlon 2.0 ghz with 1gb ram and a 9600 AGP 128mb video card. I run FSX at close to full speed on a Pentium 4 3 ghz an old Dell Dimension and 2GB ram with the 8400GS video card with 512mb. I would look for something running the processor over 3.0ghz. Seems like Flight Sim X uses the CPU like crazy.

    Hi,

What video card do you recommend with the above?

    Thanks
  4. This one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130738

That will play FSX and MS Flight maxed without a problem.
