Need help getting SLI to work for 2 GTX 460s

I have 2 MSI Cyclone 460s on an Asus P8Z68 pro with a Corsair HX70W PSU. When I attempt to switch to SLI in the Nvida control panel the control panel freezes and display driver stops working. In the device manager it says that both cards have been stopped because they have reported problems (Code 43). That’s with the 275.33 drivers. For any drivers before that no SLI option is show at all. Both the cards work fine independently and in either slot. Does anyone have any idea what to do? I'm new to SLI and I must admit I'm quite stumped.

Have you tried enabling SLi without the SLi bridge on? It could just be a faulty bridge that's causing the problem.

I'll give that a try

No dice. It made no difference with the old drivers. With the new ones, after having to install them for a 3rd time to get nvidia control panel to work, all SLI options, apart from disable, are greyed out.

Any more insight would be greatly appreciated here. I've scanned the internet and found nothing helpful. I'm really hoping someone has some idea of what might be done.

I can only think that you may have a faulty motherboard then, I'm assuming that you are using W7 and it's fully updated?

Yep. All updated.

So, just to make shore, there's no BIOS setting I need to change or anything like that?

No, I've never had to change any BIOS setting on any of the SLi rigs that I've built or owned and my P8P67 Pro had no problems at all in running SLi'd cards, it was only W7 that needed updating before the drivers would load properly.

I suppose it's possible you bought them at different times, and one of you has a different bios. It seems unlikely the bios would cause an issue, but I won't completely rule it out.

hmmm... is there any way for me to check if it is the motherboard?

Other than trying a different pair of cards, no not really.

I guess I'd better RMA the bored then. How aggravating.

the way to fix it is to go to the device manager and disable the card that has code 43 and re-enable it. sli will work then i was having the same problem. :D
