Hi I am new to this forum, have read lots on here before, finally decided to signup. I am wondering if there are other alternatives like Deep Freeze? I have 2 little ones that seem to put anthing and everything each time they use our family computer. I have read about Deep freeze online but wondering if anyone has any other better alternatives?
Well thereis Returnil but what scout_03 said is better as a virus that is DeepFreeze/Returnil aware will manage to infect your PC permanently, since it will be running with full SYSTEM privileges. OR even better make a VMware image and make them use it.
EDIT: If you don't go the vmware way then make sure you also install AntiExecutable(from the same company that makes DeepFreeze) and profile it for your kids.
Dude604, like the above users have mentioned, have your PC protected with user access control and administrative rights. However if you are looking for a solution that not only protects you from your kids messing around but also gives you an option for disaster recovery incase you have done something wrong in the system by installing a malicious program or having deleted something accidently or if your system all of a sudden one day things not to function for some reason, use a disaster recovery solution like RollBack Rx. Some would say imaging, but according to me Imaging takes a lot of time and space where as this snapshot technology used by RollBack Rx is impressive. Give it a shot, it might sort it out for you.
thank you for your input. I Just downloaded the Trial version of rollback rx from their website after doing a quick google search. Looks good but i havent had the time to play with it too much yet i will post back a bit later with some updates
