Hi guys, I was just wondering whether my G.Skill Ripjawz X 8GB will support my ASRock Z77 Extreme 4. I'm asking this because it says it was designed for the P67 chipset and my new mobo uses Z77. I can also buy Ripjawz Z which is designed for Z77 and has higher frequency but I'm already over budget and it is quite more expensive. A full list of my new rig can be found here.

Another question is that what SATA port do I use for my new optical drive? Like SATA2 3Gb/s or SATA3 6Gb/s?

Thank you.

That info is available at http://gskill.com/products.php?index=355&c1=&c2=&search... The ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 is on the list of supported motherboards.

It doesn't matter which SATA port you use for the optical drive.

Woah, I didn't see that information when I looked at the G.Skill site!

And will it improve speed if I plug it into my SATA3 6Gb/s port?

No because it's transfer rate is lower than 3Gb/s. SSDs can take advantage of the 6Gb/s ports.

Ahh okay, however I will put it in a SATA 3 6Gb/s slot anyway because I have the room. Ty for answer.
