its a big difference between the 2 in performance, But if you are not getting what you need from the 965 then i would say go with the 2500k.

are you a over clocker?

na man nice and clean . sitting at 30deg now on idle thats running at 3.4default setting. soon as i move it to 3.6 the heat rockets at 65deg on full load.

The first thing that should have been asked is what heatsink/fan are you using stock or aftermarket? If your trying to use the stock heatsink/fan that's why it's overheating. Its to small to dissipate the heat created from overclocking.

over 70deg is too high and the max temp according to the producers, the max temp the cpu can handle is 62deg.

I would say go with the 2500k and get the corsair h100 and get better performing case fans, maby one or 2 more, depending on your budget

And make sure you use a very good thermal paste.

like rds1220 said about the thermal paste reapply it, And increase the speed of the fans of your 920 for overclocking it will cool more for 4.5ghz

the only way it will feel different is with a 120hz screen

But with a 2500k at that speed it will get more fps but ive found that you can play comfortably above 40fps
