CPU compatibility

Hello all, wonder if you can answer me a question.

I am upgrading my father's system, and would like to purchase a
Intel Celeron G530, I was wondering if anyone knows if this is compatible with Windows XP, can't afford to upgrade OS. Someone told me they stopped supporting Windows XP.

If it's XP SP3 it should be able to work fine.

Microsoft stopped officially supporting XP, they no longer put out regular updates or anything of the like, but if it's updated up to SP3 as is it should work. The new CPU shouldn't break it, I've seen XP work on newer i3s.
