Hi,

I am a software developer and use Visual Studio .NET for most of my
work. This can be quite intensive for compiling code.

I also need a laptop that I can pick up and take into a client's office
for 2 hrs and show him my work.

My head is utterly confused for the CPU.....!

Pentium 4 or Pentium M or (now) Pentium 4-M

I can only really find a handful of Pentium 4 laptops now adays and
they are all quite big and bulky.

I don't want to buy a P4, to find that the P M does actually out
perform it.

*****
Question:
If a Pentium M is a 1.5Ghz, then does it run at 1.5Ghz or what? Where
does this number correlate to the work it does.

many thanks

pete

Pentium 4 was first.
Then Pentium 4-M
Then Pentium M, which is part of the Centrino package, which is the
best CPU for laptops. It runs the coolest and gives the best battery
life.

The Pentium M gets more work done at a lower clock rate than the
Pentium 4 does. So a Pentium M at 1.5GHZ is roughly equivalent to a
Pentium 4 at 3GHZ, give or take a little.
