First Build need help on gpu.

I will be building my first gaming computer in the next month or so and I have begun searching for parts. I found a really good deal on the nvidea 580 and I was curious if that would be overkill. Would i be better of just getting a amd 6950 then adding an aditional card later using crossfire.

intel i5 2500k, 8 gb of ram at 1866mhz, 64 gigs of flash memory, not sure really what to do about cooling yet (how many fans), 1tb 7200 rpm, still looking at motherboards, 1000 watt power supply 5 stars on newegg and cheap.

Thanks ill just stick with one then. It will be a while before I would have to replace it if i go with the nvidia.
