REVISED Build: Gaming and Fraps (BF3, SWTOR)/Video Editing Build

This is a revised build! What do you guys think of this set up for BF3 highest settings while recording fraps at 1080p? Also going to be using Adobe Products for Picture and Video editing. I'm going to be OC'ing this and hopefully reach 5.0Ghz. The reason for the mother board, PCE-E 3.0 (future upgrade for Ivy Bridge). Going SLI soon, not yet. Once I get 2 more monitors for Nvidia Surround Gaming. 2x6970's are supposed to run off a 600w Power Supply so I believe 750w is sufficient for a future SLI upgrade. Read a review with a similar build and 2x580's in SLI

1800 should get you a decent rig for bf3. I would not hold my breath and wait for 7xxx series cards from AMD to launch in 2011....more like beginning 2012. The build doesn't look to bad as of now. Generally I would go with the 2500k because it performs the same s 2600k in gaming and is cheaper...but you are wanting to do some video capture so it may actually be worth the extra $90 dollars. As far as video cards I would say some CF 6950's 6970's or some 570's SLI or 580's to really push the game well...maybe im overkill right now in my mind but its hard to say without specs being released. Geta good 850-1000 watt power supply for whatever you do. Corsair and seasonic have some great ones...and remember non modular is cheaper but then you have to deal with more cables in your case so make sure you have good cable management options

You could actually save some money on a cheaper mobo...no need to really spend that much on the gigabyte board to get good performance...i see mjmjpfaff is here and he will more than likely start posting 78979967 build options for you.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I was looking to do for video cards as well currently. Is IvyBridge LGA 1155? I will eventually CF as I aquire 2 more monitors to play play with a 3monitor setup. Flipping back and forth to single and tri monitors.

They say that ivy bridge will work on socket 1155 mobo with a bios update.

Also if it helps - the released gameplay trailers for BF3 are PCs using a single GTX580 in what i assume is 1920x1080 resolution. So you could get a single one now and add another when you decide to play on a triple monitor setup.
