For the past few days I've noticed a buzzing sound coming from my computer. At first I thought that it was just one of the fans acting stupid but I decided to turn my computer off to see if I could pinpoint it better.
The buzz persisted when my computer was powered down, so I unplugged the power from my PSU and the buzzing stopped. Needless to say, bingo!
It's an Antec Earthwatts 500w PSU. I've had it for about 3 years now. Recently I purchased a 6950 to upgrade from my 250GTS. Other specs are:
Phenom II x6 3.2ghz
AM2+ Asus mobo with 8gb of DDR2
2 HDD's
I'm assuming that the addition of the 6950 to my system has brought my PSU to it's knees. Is there any way I can test the life of my PSU? I was going to wait until the spring to buy a 750W PSU with my Ivy Bridge/Crossfire setup but it would not hurt to purchase a new power supply now if need be.
