Advice on first Gaming build...

Hello all, wanted to get your opinions on a build I'm looking at. I will primarily be using this for gaming. I already have several minor pieces so those won't be included in the parts I'm looking at. My main concern is the mobo. I'm really not looking to OC so if anyone more experienced than me (which wouldn't take much) can make any other (cheaper) suggestions, please feel free!

  3. You guys are awesome. I've edited some of the links in my OP. It's looking better!
  4. Please label links so we can see how you are coming along...just put name of part before link Example: GTX460 (then link) hate have to click on each when i can just read it..lol
  5. Done, thanks!
  6. what is your budget? will you be doing an sli upgrade in the future?
  7. I'd like to stay around $750. I'm expecting to go over a bit because I'm still case-shopping a little bit. Haven't found one I like. I'm not planning on SLI. Not anytime soon at least.
  8. well if u do sli upgrade in the future here is a psu that will do you just fine

ill get another one up in a sec thats cheaper but not sli capable
  9. Thanks for that. I have a 520 watt PSU that I plan on using but I know I'll need more if I ever SLI.
  10. Here is one that is 520 watts from sea sonic. Its enough to power the system well. People power 560ti's in sli with 600-650watts

  11. Ok...didnt see that you already had one....
  12. Yeah, I'm good with the PSU, internal hard drive, and DVD Rw. I thin k I'm ok with everything now. I am going back and forth a little bit between the I-5 2400 and the 2500K though...
  13. 2500k is the best you can do for gaming at the time and if you ever decide to overclock it can be done very well
  14. One last question. Should I avoid using 1.65v instead of 1.5v on the RAM I have selected? I've kind of heard differing opinions on that...

You want 1.5v RAM for these 1155 boards and not 1.65v.
  16. Glad to know it before ordering. Any suggestions on good RAM for the 1155 in the same price range?
  17. Your second link is 1.65v...you told him he didnt want that kind....and your first one is 1600 Cas 9...he might as well get some 1333 cas 7...pretty much equal
  18. So, is the original 1.65v ok to use then?

Forget that link to the Mushkin RAM. I didn't see it was 1.65v.

Also you might want to consider a 2x2 GB set of RAM to cut back on cost.
  20. get 1.5v. The higher the speed the lower you want your cas latency....but the tradeoff is higher voltages and ram temperatures....there are some 1.5 ddr3 1600 with cas latency 7 or 8.....if you get cas 9 speed 1600 you might as well get 1333 speed ram

Are there any with 7 or 8 latency that are in the same price range? Most of the ones I'm finding now in that range all seem to be cas 9.
  22. one sec ill look
  23. If that would be better then I'll go with that. I guess I could get another 4 GB down the road.
