Motherboard compatability

hi i have a slightly old computer and it has a ASUS P5G41T-M LX PLUS motherboard with a pcie 16x 1.0 slot and i was wondering if a pcie 3.0 videocard will be backwards compatable with it. this is the card i am thinking of buying : http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1681... if you guys think it will not work please tell me what other options i migh have

If your power supply has the proper leads and juice, you should be fine. Be sure you have an extra slot empty next to the pci-e and your case will accomodate the length of the card.
