I have just realized that nvidia is made by pny and i've owned a few pny flash drives and they were very flimsy. I'm getting a laptop with a nvidia gpu, should i reconsider?

Your information is incorrect PNY make all sorts of things including making GPU's based on Nvidia chips. The same as Sapphire make AMD based cards.
The flash drives would have had nothing to do with Nvidia.
Nvidia provide the GPU Chips and PNY incorporate them into a Graphics card.
You have nothing to worry about.

My PNY 580s are anything but flimsy. All brands have low-end products. Your flash drives were probably good examples of those.

I think you have it backwards, pny makes nvidia-based cards not the other way around. I have had no issues with PNY, at least none that were over what you'd see with any other vendor. And I work with many many many brands with a huge volume of cards. The worst ones for stability have been Matrox.

nVidia GPU chips are manufactured by TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company).

The GPU chips are then sold to OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer) who actually manufacturers the video card and incorporates the GPU into the card. OEMs manufactures products (in this case video cards) for many brand name companies. PNY is one such brand name.

Nvidia makes their own chips for mobiles.......
PNY is just a 3rd party vendor like Sapphire to AMD........


I do miss XFX Geforce GPUs though.........good times.........

I owned 2 xfx nvidia cards, they both fried themselves................

Eh-hem. Nvidia is made by TSMC, like every single other discrete GPU out now.

However, my internal ATI fanboy does want you to reconsider, oh wait, no mas ATI .

I have a great pny 570, im not a fanboy for any one side or another or even the 3rd party distributors. dont worry about it
