Hey everyone,

I have the Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H mobo. I do not understand why this is happening and why now, but the 2 rear USB 3.0 ports above the LAN port are not working. Anything I plug into them does not register. All the other USB ports work perfectly fine. It is just these two that are next to the SATA ports that are giving me issues. Does anyone have an explanation or a solution??

Thank you,

CCHartsell

check in the bios that all your usb ports and devices are turned on. check that the usb drivers are installed. some mb use a third party chipset for some of the ports.

Some of the USB ports on that motherboard are connected to the Intel Z77 chipset while the rest are connected to the VIA VL800 USB 3.0 controller.

Windows 7 does not have native USB 3.0 drivers so to use any USB 3.0 port you must install the relevant drivers.

The Z77 ports can be enabled by installing the Intel chipset software here:

The VIA VL800 ports can be enabled by installing the drivers located here:

Thanks for the help guys. Much appreciated! My Z77 port was up to date so that didn't fix anything. However, once I did the download and update for the VIA VL800 ports they both work just fine along with all the others! :)
