Hi all
Im building my 1st pc here, I bought a hyper 212 plus for my i7 2600k
My question is, how reliable or good is the thermal paste from cooler master that comes in the box

and my 2nd question is, how should I apply the paste ?
1 line across and spread it ?
whats your technique

thank you

Solution

The two line cooler method is foolproof btw = i've installed a few 212+'s.
The cpu spread method is not recommended for the 1st timer = i wouldn't recommend it with CM 212+ paste = it's too thick(viscosity wise)
The best cpu application is a pea sized blob in the center imo...

It's all good , I use OCZ freeze , has worked well for me , but i'm sure any good goop will do the same . I just put a blob in the centere with 4 very small dots 1/4" in from the corners of heat spreader on cpu . So far have had no problems and temps are reasonable .

thanks for sharing your methods, i been watching videos from youtube also, everyone has his own unique technique

thanks davcon for the link, is the 2nd time i see it spread in the heat sink , instead the cpu
I have seen ppl using 1 line across in the middle of the cpu and spread it with a plastic card or using the finger with those latex gloves.

i will have to do it 2morrow that why im learning today.

I was asking about the paste cause it doesnt say anywhere the ingredients :??:
like this artic 5 that has ceramic and Polysynthetic
i couldnt find anything in google

hey davcon, i was wondering cuz it doesnt say anything in the user manual, where should I use this rubber pads?....

you know the 212 evo is different, the surface is completly even..

so, whats is better thick or a thin layer ??

What do you have an Evo or 212+?
The rubber is for the fan mounts.
