The GTX 570 is that you targeted, it is the best Nvidia 500 series at the $300-$350 price range. But I'd also look at the GTX 480 series and especially this model:

The Zotac GTX 480 is a reference GTX 480 factory modded with the Zalman cooler. Essentially it is the same mod as I have done with my GTX 470. It runs cool (about 20-30 C cooler than the reference design) and has the advantage of 364 bit bus width and 1.5 GB memory (vs. 320 bit bus width and 1.28 GB vid. RAM).

The GTX 570 is a fantastic card, but the GTX 480 is its match and more bang for the buck.

Other cards I would suggest:

Since you have a storebought the Mobo almost surely is not SLI capable so you're confined to single card. The GTX 570 is what you're looking for. It's the only NVidia card in that price range. Just make sure to measure how much clearance you have in your case and take a look at the specs/dimensions of the particular card you end up considering (especially if it's a non-reference design).

There are some pretty good deals around right now and the GTX 570 is a pretty fantastic card.

If you are open to considering the competition, the HD 6970 2GB is the competitor to the GTX 570. You can find reviews of both cards here are Toms Hardware and on many other review sites (guru3d.com, anandtech.com, legitreviews.com, etc). Both very solid products, but if you prefer to stick with NVidia here there's nothing wrong with that.
