Hello,

i recentley upgraded my pc and bought a 2gb ati 6950 16x, after installing all the parts and installing windows i checked everything was running ok but noticed my graphics card was only running at 8x, iv checked the motherboard supports 16x and it does.I did get a little card in the box called a switch card??? its slightley smaller than a stick of ram and has the same pinn config as a pci-e card.iv tried putting this into the other pci-e slot on the mobo but it makes the graphics go seriousley wrong, wierd lines and colours all over the screen then it crashes. any ideas how to enable 16x for this card

Thanks

Check the boards user manual. It should say how to use that stick.

It normally does just go into a slot and pass the connection from one side of the slot(first x8 ) to the other(last x8) that will bring the lanes to the other slot.

On the plus side, you loose almost no performance on going x8 anyway.
