More about gaming build
  1. Just a couple of thoughts.

    1. Are you aware that the MB has no USB 3.0 header for bringing USB 3.0 to the front of the case, and that the case has no USB 3.0 ports? Just checking in case this is important to you.

    2. I was a fan of the Antec 900 case until I met the Cooler Master Storm Enforcer case, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119240 , The CM case is much easier to work in and offers both USB 2.0 and 3.0 (2 of each) at the front. There is a nice video on Newegg of the storm enforcer - check it out.

    3. I have the same video card you are looking at and I love it. Good choice.
  2. can you give me the link with this microcenter combo?

its on this PDF add off their current brochure and they actually increased it to $50

just go into any store and ask them about the offer. I've used it several times on budget and gaming builds. they also have a similar offer with intel every now and then. just follow the bargains on the left hand side, the last one states "save $50 instantly on any AMD compatible motherboard" with a CPU purchase of usually $85+

another FYI, if this is the first time you get this combo from them, they will email you three coupons for 20% off any case, any PSU, and any version of windows 7 about 2-3 days after your combo purchase. the windows 7 coupon is OK, newegg has had win 7 on sale for $80 several times the past two months and microcenter charges around $109 but the psu and case coupons might save you some more money.

that case is cool, specially with the mouse combo
    the mouse is basically free
    i think ill get those
  5. If building AMD, get an AM3+ socket board with a 900-series chipset on it. If buying from Newegg, I would suggest this one on a budget: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157262 because it can do Crossfire (or SLI) at x8,x8 whereas most competitors in that price range are x16,x4. If you want something nicer, I can tell you that I like my Asus Sabertooth, which is this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131736
  6. @dirtyferret
so it doesnt appear as $50 online on my cart but it will be $50 when i go buy it at the store?

Good choice, you won't be dissapointed.

Also, jtt283 makes a good point about MB selection. Plus, with that MB, you'll be able to bring USB 3 to the front of the case.
  8. Good going. The system sounds complete, and you just about made your budget. Have fun ordering and building it.

Oh gee, drives are so inexpensive, might as well get the 1TB and have the storage.
  12. oh and should i buy those anti static wrist straps?
its gonna be my first time building
or should i just touch a metal before touching the cpu
  13. I never use wrist straps, I just ground myself often to the case.
  14. but my case is plastic though
  15. It's actually mostly steel. But anyhow, if it makes you feel comfortable, I say go for it. You can never be too careful.
