So I'm a first-time builder, and I'm just curious if there would be any incompatability with any SSD (or HDD) with any modern motherboards

That really sounds a lot like gibberish to me. What are the requirements when talking specifically about SSD and Motherboards? Is it a chipset, just having enough SATA ports? Or is it a certain type of SATA required, and if so, what about the ones I linked to?
