GTX 580 SLI Question.

I have a p8p67 ws revolution motherboard that I would like to do dual SLI with. I have 4 pcie slots total, my issue is that I have an H50 water cooler and antec 1200 case, now these 3 parts work fine except I have to move the radiator up so it is screwed into the two bottom holes of the top fan so my gpu can fit in the first pcie slot. Now I would like to just move the gpu down one but I will only get x8, which I have read has no impact on performance. I just want x16 until I get 2 cards. I am also planning on using these coolers on the card which would make it a 2.5-3 slot card ( http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/cooling/vga/376/accelero-xtreme-plus-ii.html?c=2182 ) Would it impact performance if I used two cards in x8 by x8 mode with the first card being in the second pcie slot and the second card being in the fourth pcie slot?

x8 + x8 makes little to no difference at all as far as SLi is concerned.

So basically it wont really matter what pcie slots I use. If I have one card and have it in the fourth slot my performance would be exactly the same or maybe 1fps lower?

so its basically better for cooling even if I loose 1 frame its more beneficial to have lower cooling. Soooo Small (micro small loss) and a huge gain....
