Hello Tom's Hardware,

This is the second time that I will be building a computer myself and I have done some extensive research on most of these parts for about 2 weeks now. I may be missing some things, so please share.

The intent of this build is a powerful gaming machine and trimming unnecessary costs around the edges, but with some upgradability in case I choose to add things like water cooling or a second graphics card, for example.

Power Supply LEPA G700-MA

Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-P67A-UD4-B3

Graphics Card SAPPHIRE 100312-3SR Radeon HD 6950 Dirt3 Edition 2GB

CPU Intel Core i5-2500K

SSD Crucial M4 CT064M4SSD2 2.5" 64GB SATA III

Memory G.SKILL Sniper Series (4x2GB)

HDD WD Caviar Black 1TB

Monitor ASUS VS Series
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Now, I have chose this monitor, but reviews show that it is a glossy finish, and I am not sure if I will like it over a matte finish (what I have now). Also, it is a 2ms response time and a FANTASTIC contrast ratio, but like I said, is a 5ms monitor really that much different?

I really want to keep this under ~$1500, because I still need to buy a second desk, chair, keyboard, etc.

Thanks, everyone.

P.S. Another priority of this build is overclockability/cooling.

That's a good psu you have up there...it's manufactured by Enermax. This psu down below is also a good one manufactured by Seasonic. Comes in cheaper and it's on an even par with that LEPA so why pay more ?

XFX PRO750W XXX Edition Semi-Modular 80Plus Silver 750 Watt Power Supply

This board just came out on newegg yesterday, and it's a dandy. It has the new PCI-E 3.0 for the new generation cards coming out and it's a 8+4 phase board for a decent and steady o/c.

ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Decent, cost effective cpu h/s ...it also includes great thermal paste.

COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus RR-B10-212P-G1 "Heatpipe Direct Contact" Long Life Sleeve 120mm CPU Cooler Compatible Intel Core i5 & Intel Core i7

Here's a quicker, and quieter h/d than that WD.

SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

This review really sells this PSU to me. Incredible test results. Fully modular and 3 12V rails. Multiple rails is something that I'm just curious about.

Thanks for other recommendations. I am looking at this ASRock mobo. I have an ASRock now and it hasn't given me too many issues, but I'm not sure yet about saving money on a lesser brand Z68 which has features that I don't and won't ever need. The PCI-e 3.0 is interesting and I will have to think about whether or not I will just build a new system when I decide I need that feature. hmmm ;p

Also, I forgot to list that a friend is selling me a hardly used http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... after he upgraded to a D14 2 weeks after he bought it.

Does anyone know how trusted ASUS is with thier GTG response times? There seems to be no standard hue for grey, so what's the deal?
