Just bought an HP special edition L2000 which uses an AMD Turion CPU. I
was surprised that it shipped with 32 bit XP. HP/Compaq says that they
are still working on 64 bit drivers. Does anyone else ship 64 bit
laptops with 64 bit XP?
(They say I'll be eligible for an upgrade when they are ready to
release a 64 bit system but had no ETA.)

Condider yourself lucky, you have an OS that works reasonably well and
which can handle present and most past programs. Let others face all the
problems that are going to crop up with 64 bit.

I did some googling and wasn't able to find much recent information, so
I'll ask you for clarification.
Don't 32 bit apps run w/out difficulty on XP-64? I understand they've
dropped support for 16 bit apps and I can't think that was too soon!
