I've just built a PC for my brother for mild gaming and browsing and placed it in the living room, the only issue is that after buying and renovating new home, our pops wont allow us to poke holes around his big investment and use Ethernet for connectivity.

Having win 7 x64, I've come down to purchasing a PCI Adapter that has been noted to work well with win7 - WMP600N.... Now the problem is I am unsure which router to purchase to make it work well.

I was thinking of the WRT400N (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833124333)... but I was wondering if you guys know a better alternate option.

Thanks in advance.

wireless network card are supposed to work with all kinds of routers; nevertheless, it is a good idea to use the same brand.

The WRT400N is similar to the E3000 which has faster ports (10/100/1000 Mb). If you don't need the faster ports, the WRT400N will be fine.

Another good one would be the E2000, whereby it will only due 2.4GHz or 5GHz but not both at the same time.

WRT400N works perfectly fine with WMP600N. WMP600N was recognized right away by Windows 7 and didin't even need to dl the driver. Gotta say, I am satisfied.
