I have 2 x Corsair XMS2 CM2X1024-5400C4 (1 GB each) and 1 x Kingmax KLCE88F-B8KW5 (2 GB). In total they should have 4 GB. My problem is when i put all 3 pieces in the motherboard my pc starts but will not show anythong on the monitor. If i put the 2gb ram piece with one 1gb ram piece it works fine. I also tryed to switch them in every slot or possibility. My motherboard is Gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L. Can someone tell me why all 4 gb won't work or what can i do to fix it ? thank you in advance.

  1. It sounds like that stick of RAM is broken and there is unfortunately nothing you can do to fix it.
  2. nope...if i put the 2 x 1 gb corsair they both work .. only when i put all 3 of them and start it , wont work past 3 gb . and i know my motherboard supports at least 4-8 gb
  3. sorry for second post but i wanna be more specific..

I was using the 2 x 1gb corsair ram till today when i went and bought the 2 x gb kingmax piece.... i came home and put the 2gb piece in my motherboard: pc started but monitor was black. Turned the pc off and removed both the 2x 1gb pieces, then started the pc again: it worked fine. Turned it off and started playing with the ram slots. Put the 1gb2gb1gb= black screen , put 2gb1gb1gb=black screen, i put 1gb1gb2gb=black screen, i put 2gb1gb and left 2 slots empty removing one of the 1gb piece...worked fine. dunno if this makes any sense . my english is not that great.
  4. Wait; is your operating system 32bit or 64bit.

32bit operating systems will not recognize more than 3 gigs of RAM (usually between 3 and 3.5 gigs)
  5. Yes it is 32bit OS but its Windows 7. From what i know only windows Xp would see only 3 gb. My problem is i can't even load windows when i have 4 gb plugged in. When pc starts it will stay in black screen. Windows wont even start, i mean not even the first screen with the (press delete to enter bios) screen wont show. Just starts pc and IDLE in black screen.
  6. are your memory settings on auto? mixing memory's like that doesn't usually end well. you.may need to manually set the voltage and timings/frequency
  7. how can i do that if i can't even reach the (press delete to enter bios screen) ? and all the pieces are on 667 mhz .. they are by default the same frequency all 3 pieces
  8. I'm not positive about this but get into the BIOS and see if there is a Dual channel-single channel choice on RAM. Then re-insert the RAM stick and see what happens.
Like unksol said, some memories just don't play well together. The Corsair memory is 1.9V, don't know aboit the Kingmax but it should tell you on the chip.
  9. i went and there is no choice in the bios menu. as for the voltage i made screen shots from Everest ultimate edition :
