I am buying my first gaming RIG and I am having trouble deciding between the Nvidia 560 ti SCO 1GB or the AMD 6950 2gb. The main concern I am having is with the decision is the fact I don't know which card will work better when I Fraps - I want to Fraps with decent quality without a big performance drop (I want the gameplay to be smooth even when recording). I do not plan to overclock the cards (the Nvidia SCO comes pre OCed for me thankfully). I don't have any experience with OCing/unlocking and I don't think I plan to do any.
The games I plan to Fraps are:
Combat Arms (DirectX 9)
Call of Duty Black Ops

All advice is welcome! Thank you!

Get the 6950 2gig and don't look back. I had a gtx560 and sent it back, a friend of mine had 2 of those SOC cards and sent them back as have at least 2 other people I know. Tough to think that it's just a coincidence.

Well that's something to consider then. I am more worried about oreformence right now though.

HD 6950's are faster than the 560ti in most situations. Only times, i think, when they are not is when a game was designed to be better with Nvidia cards.

If I am not mistaken, the 6950's also use less power and also have better performance in xfire than the 560's in sli if you eventually wanted to go that route.

I don't have much experience with Fraps, but I figure it would also take a hefty cpu to run that and a game at the same time, with a very good gpu to get good performance out of both.

You really cant go wrong with either one, but if you are going to be fair, compare an OC model of one to an OC model of the other.

Alright thanks! I think I'll go with the 6950 as I do want to sli eventually. Thanks!

Difference in these cards is only the factory OC right?

I should say that is the only difference.
