In between core i5 2500k vs phenom ii x2 580 whic of it is the best when we use it .
For me phenom ii x2 580 is better than core i5 2500k.It is because the phenom ii x2 580 have 7MB with the speed of 3.3 on the price RM293.Base on core i5 2500k it have 6MB with the speed of 3.3 on the price RM658

It depends on what your doing. The i5 will be faster in games and basic applications. However the AMD phenom II will be faster on rendering and video audio encoding.

As for MB price is concerned, that doesn't really ring true anymore you can find 1155 MB for the same price as the AMD boards, you can even get the i5 2400 for the same cost as the phenom II black and its a more capable chip.

i couldn't find your cpu, so i chose the ph ii x4 980 a cpu more powerful than yours, amd's phenom ii's top of the line cpu.
this is a comparison between the two
your phii x2 580 has half the performance and pwoer-performance efficiency of the 980.
yeah core i5 cpu + mobos are expensive, despite that they offer the best performance for their price.

ph ii x6s will be slightly better than the i5 2500k but the i5 will have no trouble keeping up. op's ph ii x2 however will perform worse than the i5. the i5 has one other weapon for fast encoding: quick sync. [strike]nuff said.[/strike]
edit: hehe the last line made me look like an intel fanboy :p. anyway if you combine a 2500k with a z68 or an h67 mobo you can use quick sync for very fast and better quality encoding. amd's thuban cpus excel at second pass because of their 6 cores. then again 2500k can oc to 4.5 ghz to keep up with the thubans.

The Phenom 2 x2 will be tremendously worse than the 2500k.

I use a Phenom 2 (branded, actually its an Athalon 2 Propus in reality) x4 840 and there is no way I am even with what a 2500k will do.

I would be surprised if the Phenom x2 580 would do half as well. There is a reason it costs half as much.

The Intel 2500k is like the BMW of computer chips and the Phenom 2s are more like Hondas.

The 2500k may be a value chip at the high end segment, but they don't give you the most bang for your buck unless possibly if you are OCing.
