hi as you will see i am new to this and you see this all the time but here go,s
i am runing a (hp compque desk toper not a tower it is 7100 office
the model - 097ch(xu1 processor
chip set vender -intel
chip set model-i915 p/i915G

now i have done all that i hope it is anuf inof
what i want to know is can i run a dual core 3.oghz
in this to speed it up and what do i have to do for it to run
be coss i have got one of thees and it looks the same as the one
i have in ther but im a bit frightend to insert it in case it over loads
some thing or buggers some thing up
so what i need is addvice frome you who know
(ps the core im runing now is( singal core 2.66ghz)

Your board chipset is too old for a newer dual core cpu. I wouldn't spend any money on it. It's time for a complete new system. You can sell it intact or give it away. When you can buy a complete dell or compaq dual core system for under $300, it makes no sense to throw good money into such an old system.
